Ryoma Hiding Place

On the night of April 23, 1867, an incident occurred where the naval reinforcement troops of Ryoma Sakamoto who rode the [Irohamaru] ship collided with the [Meikoumaru] ship of the Kishu clan at the coast of Mushima in Okayama prefecture causing the [Irohamaru] ship to sink. In this incident, Ryoma went to the harbor of Tomo and stayed at the house of Masuya Seiemon. At that time, Masuya who was running a shipping agency thought of his business relations with the Tosa, Satsuma and Ozu clan and used those connections to help salvage Irohamaru. The legendary Ryoma Hiding Place is now officially open to the public.
