Studio Cross Road
A crossing is hard to see in Tomo town. “Studio Cross Road” is located at the crossing. In the shop, you’ll find humorous but nuanced ceramic products. Most of works are humorous and are used in the motif of cats. You’ll surely be pleased and happy. All works in the gallery are made by Mr. Housaku Matsuoka, the owner. His simple but a warm character reflects to his works. In addition, you will see a kiln in the shop. Therefore, the atmosphere in this gallery is just as a craft center. For sure, you’ll find your favorite in here.

鞆にかつてひとつしかなかった「四つ角」
『工房 四つ角』さんが一角を占めるこの交差点、実はかつて、鞆の浦にただひとつだけあったという”四つ辻”だったんです。城下町だった鞆の浦は、防衛上の必要性から十字路は造らず、必ず道と道とを微妙にずらして交わらせていたんです。つまり、“遠見遮断”ですね。道を入り組ませることによって、見通しを悪くさせていたんです。迷路にしちゃうんですね。
そんな歴史的な謂れを偲ばせる一角に、「工房 四つ角」さんは建っています。

ねこや子地蔵さん、それにレトロなカメラなど、可愛くて個性溢れる陶芸品の数々は、見ていて心和みます。思わず、くすりと笑ってしまう、ユーモラスなものばかりなんですよ。
また、オーダーメイドの製作も受け付けてくれるので、鞆の浦の思い出に、自分だけのオリジナル陶芸品を作ってもらう、なんてのもいいですね。
